Sound found Gary in 1997; a new quest, The Audible Life Force. Gary first got interested in therapeutic sound when his mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in 2000. Using ideas from the research of Dr. Oliver Sachs, he experimented with creating "mixtapes" of different music for her to listen to. In 2006, Gary started his formal sound studies with Dr. John Beaulieu, one of the foremost philosophers and major innovators in the area of sound healing therapies. With John he studied the use tuning forks and sound to experience deep levels of relaxation and healing by bringing the body back to its fundamental pulse and by connecting it to the Authentic Life Rhythm.
At present, Gary is studying overtone chanting with Jill Purce, Sound Therapy with Lyz Cooper at The British Academy of Sound Therapy (BAST) and Sound Healing with Zacchiah Blackburn of The Center of Light Institute of Sound Healing and Shamanic Studies. For the last 3 years, he was facilitating weekly Sound Bath Meditations at The American School in London. Gary is also in the newest cohort of The 100 hour Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Training with David Nichtern, in conjunction with Tibet House US, as well as, studying "mindfulness meditation" for children with Lorraine Murray of Connected Kids.
